Gabriel Johan Gudmundsson is a Swedish professional footballer born on April 29, 1999, in Malmö. He primarily plays as a left-back, although he has also appeared in midfield or as a centre-back. The son of former Swedish international Niklas Gudmundsson, Gabriel was raised in a football-oriented family. After beginning his youth career with Snöstorp Nyhem FF, he progressed through Halmstads BK, the club closely tied to his family lineage.

Gabriel's younger brother, Johan, was born on September 15, 2002, and also plays professional football as a right winger or attacking player. Like Gabriel and their father, Johan began his youth journey at Snöstorp Nyhem FF and later joined Halmstads BK's youth system. Both brothers have competed in Sweden’s lower divisions, including spells with Halmstads BK’s youth, reserve sides, Tvååkers IF, and Ängelholms FF.

Johan made his senior debut for Halmstads BK in 2016 and later moved to the Netherlands with FC Groningen, followed by a stint at Lille OSC in France. Gabriel made his senior debut for Halmstads BK in 2016, contributing to their promotion efforts and later transitioning into a more defensive role. He moved to FC Groningen in the Netherlands, then to Lille OSC in France, and most recently to Premier League club Leeds United in 2025.

On the international front, Gabriel has represented Sweden at various youth levels and earned his senior debut in 2022, accumulating numerous caps and participating in World Cup qualifying and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While he has not secured major senior club trophies, Gabriel has received recognition, including being the top scorer in the Folksam U21 Allsvenskan Södra and being named the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust Paul Madeley Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season.
