Four dead, 8 critical after consuming spurious liquor in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar

Four individuals have tragically lost their lives and 18 others have been hospitalized, with eight in critical condition, after consuming illicit liquor in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The victims ingested a counterfeit version of a popular Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brand that was allegedly smuggled from Madhya Pradesh.

Four individuals have been apprehended for their role in the illegal distribution of the tainted liquor. Bhavnagar District Collector Manish Kumar Bansal confirmed the deaths of Kartik Makwana, Upendra Gohil, and Ghanshyamsinh Jadeja, while the cause of death for the fourth victim, Narendra Yadav, is pending postmortem and toxicology reports.

The first fatality was reported on Tuesday evening, with another occurring later that same day, and two more deaths on Wednesday. Despite being a dry state, where the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol are prohibited, at least 22 people have been affected by the spurious liquor.
