The Jummy iCare Foundation in Akure, Ondo State capital, recently trained 600 women, young girls, and People With Disabilities (PWDs) in various entrepreneurial skills. The training, which took place over several days, covered bag-making, soap-making, sewing, and other trades. At the conclusion of the program, the foundation's CEO, Mrs. Olajumoke Abegunde, distributed working tools to the graduates to kickstart their new businesses.

Out of the 600 participants, nine received special gifts for excelling in the training. The top six women - Abebi Bukola, Morenike Falohun, Omolola Omofemiwa, Alomaja Titilayo, Ejifoor Juliana, and Omoyemi Oluwaleke - were presented with electric tricycles, while Bolanle Adeniji was awarded an electric motorcycle.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Abegunde shared the foundation's mission, stating that it was founded on the belief that humanity thrives when people care enough to help. Her motto, "I care, therefore I act," embodies the foundation's commitment to addressing needs, responding to them, and empowering individuals to discover their inherent strengths.

The foundation's vision extends beyond providing immediate assistance; its goal is to create capable individuals who can thrive independently in the future. Through skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, education, empowerment, and opportunity, the foundation aims to help ordinary Nigerians contribute to their families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

The Executive Director of the Nigeria Delta Development Commission (NDC) honored the beneficiaries, urging them to take the skills seriously to improve their lives. The Chairman of the Council of Obas in Ondo State, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, who served as the honorary father of the day, commended Mrs. Abegunde for her charitable gesture.

The hearing-impaired participants who attended the training and benefited from the empowerment program also expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Abegunde for accepting them when they arrived uninvited at the training center.
