Finucane not representing Kinahan in trial - Sinn Féin

Sinn Féin has stated that MP John Finucane will not be acting as legal counsel for Daniel Kinahan during his upcoming trial. Finucane, a solicitor with his own firm, Finucane Toner, had previously represented Kinahan in another legal matter. Sinn Féin's spokesperson confirmed that Finucane would not be involved in Kinahan's current trial, noting that it is a matter of public record that Finucane had previously worked with Kinahan.

Kinahan made his first court appearance in Ireland on August 9th, following his extradition from Dubai. During the brief hearing at the Special Criminal Court, he was charged with directing a criminal organization between October 18th, 2015 and April 6th, 2017. Kinahan expressed that he did not have time to arrange legal representation but stated he would seek it later. Following the charge, he was held in custody and transferred to Portlaoise Prison.
