Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell gets ‘overheated’ after another high-scoring game and sits out 4th vs. Tempo

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell sat out the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's 101-95 win against Toronto due to overheating, according to coach Stephanie White. Mitchell had a crucial late third quarter performance, scoring eight points in under a minute to reach 29 points for the game. After the game, Mitchell headed to the locker room and did not return to the floor in the hot Scotiabank Arena.

White noted that this was the second consecutive game played in extremely hot conditions, leading to Mitchell's overheating. Mitchell scored 20 points in 36 minutes on Sunday in overtime as the Fever defeated Atlanta 95-91. Last October, Mitchell was hospitalized for fluids after experiencing leg cramps during a 107-98 overtime loss to Las Vegas in the WNBA semifinal series.

Mitchell has now scored 20 or more points in the same game a record 16 times this season, surpassing Caitlin Clark and Diana Taurasi for the most.
