Falcons' Tua Tagovailoa Needs to Step It Up in 2026
It's now or never for Falcons' Tua Tagovailoa this season.
Tua Tagovailoa faces pressure heading into his first season with the Falcons, despite initially having an edge over Michael Penix Jr. The quarterback's preseason debut didn't impress, leading Sports reporter Zachary Pereles to predict a challenging 2026 season. Tagovailoa acknowledged the performance as "definitely not up to standard" and now must prove he's the right choice for the position.
However, Penix's limited involvement in full-team drills has given Tagovailoa some breathing room. As the competition intensifies, every poor performance will matter more. Tagovailoa must step up in 2026 to secure his role as the starter, but he has the talent to improve and make a lasting impact.
