Dubai approves 1,295 humanitarian cases in first half of 2026

Dubai's General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs has approved 1,295 humanitarian cases in the first half of 2026 under a system meant to balance immigration procedures with consideration for exceptional personal circumstances. The Humanitarian Cases Committee of GDRFA Dubai reviewed a total of 2,267 applications during the six-month period.

Each case was evaluated individually, with decisions made in accordance with existing legal and regulatory frameworks and approved humanitarian criteria. The committee assessed applicants' circumstances and available evidence before deciding if relief or other solutions could be provided. The process aimed to balance fairness and transparency with the flexibility required for situations not covered by routine administrative procedures.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, the Director-General of GDRFA Dubai, emphasized that handling humanitarian cases is part of Dubai's approach to public service, prioritizing people in government decision-making while complying with the law. He highlighted that every application represents an individual story deserving of careful consideration.

GDRFA views every humanitarian case as a responsibility, striving to identify possible solutions while safeguarding human dignity. The agency plans to enhance its humanitarian-case system to respond efficiently and flexibly to various circumstances, maintaining a balance between effective government procedures, fair decision-making, and humanitarian considerations.
