Drunk SUV Driver Kills Scooter Rider, Leaves 16-Month-Old Son Critical In Bhopal

In Kolar, Madhya Pradesh, a tragic accident occurred on a late Tuesday night when a speeding SUV, driven by a severely intoxicated driver, collided with a scooter carrying a young father and his 16-month-old son. The driver, identified as Gulshan Nath, was found to be heavily intoxicated and had pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to lose control.

The SUV's speedometer was stuck at 90 kmph at the time of the crash. The impact was so severe that the scooter was heavily damaged and the father and son were thrown several meters away. The 35-year-old father, Shubham Awasthi, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his son, Madhav, remains in critical condition. The accused driver, Gulshan Nath, had borrowed the car to attend a party.

Police found empty and full liquor bottles inside the vehicle. Despite the force of the collision, the car's airbags deployed, saving the driver from serious injuries. However, an angry mob caught him at the scene and assaulted him before damaging the SUV. An arrest was made shortly after, and a case has been registered against the driver.
