Dormaa West Environmental Department burns confiscated expired goods at Nkrankwanta

In a recent crackdown on expired goods, the Dormaa West Environmental Department confiscated and destroyed a significant amount of expired food products and drinks found in shops in Nkrankwanta. This action is part of the department's ongoing efforts to protect consumers and maintain public health by removing potentially unsafe items from the market.

The department's monitoring exercise involved inspecting various shops and thoroughly examining food and beverage products to identify items that had surpassed their expiry dates and posed health risks to unsuspecting consumers.

Boadu Edmoud, the District Environmental Officer, used the opportunity to caution shop owners against selling expired food, drinks, and other consumable products. He emphasized the importance of regular inventory checks, proper separation of expired products, and preventing such items from reaching consumers. Edmoud also advised the public to be vigilant about checking expiry dates, examining packaging, and assessing the overall condition of food and drinks before making a purchase or consuming them.

He stressed that consuming expired or unsafe products could have detrimental effects on human health and urged residents to prioritize food safety.

The Environmental Department has assured that similar monitoring exercises will continue in communities across the Dormaa West District to ensure that expired and potentially unsafe products are removed from circulation and prevented from being sold to the public.
