Her comments drew backlash, notably from former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who supports Graham's opponent, Republican Representative Ralph Norman. Haley criticized Graham for not being as informed on national security as Lindsey Graham, emphasizing its importance in the U.S. Senate.

Graham's spokesperson pointed out that she focused on domestic issues like the cost of living, in line with her brother's style. The runoff election will determine who will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the November general election.
