COE premiums up across most categories; Cat A price climbs 3.7% to S$128,501

At the August 19 COE tender exercise, the price of a Category A certificate surged to S$128,501, marking a 3.7% increase from S$123,890 in the previous tender on August 5. This premium is specifically for smaller, less powerful cars and electric vehicles. Category B COEs, used for larger, more powerful vehicles, saw a modest 0.8% rise, reaching S$131,001 from S$129,910.

Motorcycle (Category D) COE premiums jumped by 7.6%, from S$10,503 to S$11,301, making this the fourth consecutive tender where this price exceeded the five-digit mark. Open category COEs (Category E), which can register any vehicle type except motorcycles, increased by 3.1%, from S$131,000 to S$135,000. Commercial vehicle (Category C) COE prices, on the other hand, fell by 1.7% to S$90,002, down from S$91,545. COEs are necessary for owning and operating a vehicle in Singapore.
