Cheruvumadharam will be developed as model solar village: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

Cheruvumadharam village in Khammam district of Telangana will be transformed into a model solar village, according to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The initiative is part of the state's efforts to promote green energy and make Telangana a leading solar state.

The Minister inaugurated 2-kW rooftop solar systems for 713 households out of the 966 households in Cheruvumadharam, which are eligible for free power up to 200 units per month under the Gruha Jyothi scheme. The programme also includes providing rooftop solar systems for 10-HP agricultural pumpsets.

Under the scheme, households can meet their electricity requirements and sell surplus power to the grid, receiving financial benefits as per the norms. Apart from the solar village initiative, Reddy distributed retrofitted three-wheeler motorcycles to differently-abled persons at a program in Kusumanchi mandal headquarters.

The Minister also inaugurated a gram panchayat office building in Pallegudem village and participated in other development projects in the Palair Assembly constituency.
