CCTV footage of moment trotro crashes into police pickup on KNUST campus [Watch]

CCTV footage from an intersection on the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus in Kumasi reveals a police pickup colliding with a trotro. In the footage, the police pickup enters the intersection, and moments later, the trotro slams into its rear side, causing the police vehicle to swerve off the road.

The impact caused the suspects inside the police pickup's bucket to be ejected, scattering in various directions as the vehicle lost control. The trotro, also thrown off its lane, slid onto the grassy lawn beside the road after the collision. The crash took place at the KNUST traffic light leading to Ayeduase. The police pickup, bearing the registration number GP 1035, was transporting seven suspected cannabis smokers to the police station following their arrest during a law enforcement operation.

Several individuals, including police officers, passengers in the trotro, and some of the suspected cannabis smokers, were injured and transported to the KNUST Hospital for medical attention. No fatalities were reported. The collision led to substantial traffic congestion on the KNUST campus as the damaged vehicles were removed from the road. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
