Boakye Agyarko vows to rebuild NPP as over 50 constituency chairpersons back his chairmanship bid

Former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko is resolutely committed to rebuilding and rebranding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure its success in the upcoming 2028 general election. This determination comes after more than 50 NPP constituency chairpersons submitted nomination forms on his behalf to contest the party’s National Chairman position. The gesture, in Mr Agyarko's words, signifies a validation of a call made to him by these constituency chairpersons more than a year ago to assume the leadership of the party.

The former Energy Minister accepted this call, stating that his decision is driven by the necessity to position the NPP for victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections. If elected, his primary goal will be to rebuild and rebrand the party into a robust electoral machine that can strengthen the candidacy of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. His campaign strategy will emphasize grassroots mobilisation, party reorganisation, and restoring confidence among party members ahead of the next general election.

This development adds to the emerging contest for the NPP's national leadership, with the party expected to select executives who will oversee its rebuilding efforts and prepare the organization for the 2028 electoral contest.
