Bihar Board expands free JEE, NEET coaching to 155 Model Schools; ‘Vidya Saathi’ app to connect students with teachers

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has broadened its free coaching program for the JEE and NEET exams to include 155 Model Schools across the state. The program, initiated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, aims to assist Classes 11 and 12 students in their preparation for these competitive exams, according to a statement from BSEB.

In tandem with the coaching program, BSEB is also launching the 'Vidya Saathi' interactive learning app for students in Classes 9 to 12 across 700 Model Schools. The app will enable students to seek clarification from teachers on subject-related concepts and doubts free of charge. The coaching program is already in operation at two schools in Patna - Patna Collegiate School, Dariyapur, and Bankipore Girls Higher Secondary School, Golghar.

Free non-residential coaching has been running at nine divisional headquarters since the 2024-26 academic session.

Following these initiatives, free evening coaching has been introduced at 10 Model Schools in Patna, and the program has been extended to 145 more Model Schools, bringing the total to 155. Students will have access to subject-wise video lessons prepared by expert teachers in line with the JEE and NEET syllabus. These lessons will be displayed via smart TVs and smart boards installed in the schools.

BSEB plans to set up a modern studio at its headquarters to facilitate live classes across the 145 schools in the future. Meanwhile, the board has initiated the creation of student accounts on the 'Vidya Saathi' app for Classes 9 to 12 students across 700 Model Schools. The DEOs have been directed to expedite this process and coordinate with school heads, ensuring students register on the platform and work with nodal experts from the implementing agency.

The app will also provide PDF-based study material for different subjects, which students can use for reference and note-making. Teachers will be compensated based on student ratings. The BSEB chairman believes the free JEE and NEET coaching for 155 Model Schools, along with the interactive learning platform for 700 Model Schools, will aid more Bihar Board students in preparing for and succeeding in competitive examinations.
