Big 22: Catawba Ridge’s Alex Johnson

Catawba Ridge senior Alex Johnson is a versatile athlete who has excelled in both wrestling and football. He won his first heavyweight state championship in wrestling, a sport he has loved since third grade. Johnson's passion for football began in eighth grade when he decided to watch his older brother play football at a practice.

The Catawba Ridge edge rusher recently committed to play college football at Boston College, where he has formed strong connections with the coaching staff. He is considering majoring in finance and is also interested in pursuing real estate opportunities. Johnson believes he can use his athletic scholarship to learn about real estate and potentially start his own property investments.

As one of Channel 9's Big 22 Players to Watch, Johnson is one of 22 athletes being profiled every weekday until voting for the final five finalists on September 4. The local stars will be featured on Channel 9 each day, and the network is hosting a Big 22 Media Day for young athletes.
