It’s been good." He also shared that it was particularly touching to take his newborn daughter, Kova, to meet her grandparents for the first time.

The tension between the family arose from an alleged misappropriation of funds by an investment firm tied to Mayfield's father and brother in 2023. After seeking an audit, they discovered unauthorized withdrawals from their accounts between 2018 and 2021. In November 2024, they filed a lawsuit against the NFL star, alleging he had not repaid the $12 million.

Mayfield admitted, "You can’t put yourself on a pedestal and act like I haven’t made mistakes in my life." He emphasized his desire to forgive, stating, "I had the ability to forgive and that was what I wanted to get across." The family has reportedly made significant progress in their reconciliation over the past few months.
