Munich - The Berlin automotive parts distributor Autodoc, one year after its failed stock market debut, has been entirely restored to the hands of its founders. Alexej Erdle, Max Wegner and Vitalij Kungel have repurchased the 15.2% stake owned by US financial investor Apollo, the company announced on Wednesday. They did so by taking a priority-backed loan of 530 million euros in July.

Apollo had joined Autodoc just two and a half years earlier, at a valuation of 2.3 billion euros. However, investors were not willing to accept a similar valuation when the stock market crash occurred in summer 2025. Despite this, Apollo still managed to profit from the sale. According to "Börsen-Zeitung", Autodoc was valued at around four billion euros for the stake repurchase.

Apollo's investor claim is that the company has become more professional and has opened up access to the capital markets, said finance director Lennart Schmidt. "This prepares us for future endeavors, including a possible stock market debut once the right time comes," he added. The strategic direction of Autodoc remains unchanged, stated CEO Dmitri Zadorojnii.

Autodoc operates online stores in 27 countries and reported a turnover of 1.8 billion euros last year (1.6 billion euros in 2024). The company, founded in 2008, employs over 5,500 people.
