Arif-Roy King beat Indonesian duo to enter World Championships last-16

Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King, a Malaysian men's doubles pair, triumphed over a higher-ranked Indonesian duo in the early hours of the day, securing their place in the third round of the World Championships held in New Delhi, India. The Malaysian pair, currently ranked 19th, defeated the Indonesian pair Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin with a score of 21-16, 21-19, in a match that lasted for 36 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

This win marked the second victory for the Malaysian duo against the Indonesian pair, who have shown significant improvement throughout the tournament. The Malaysians will now face the home team, world No 5 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, in their next match, a result of their previous four losses to the duo. This victory ensured that all four Malaysian men's doubles pairs advanced to the last-16 stage of the championships.

One quarter-final berth is secured for Malaysia as Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will face compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, while Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani will compete against the Taiwanese duo Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Wang Chi Lin. Additionally, Malaysia's women's doubles and mixed doubles teams also advanced to the last-16 stage.

However, Malaysia's women's singles challenge ended when Wong Ling Ching lost to world No 2 Japanese player Akane Yamaguchi with a score of 18-21, 10-21 in 36 minutes.
