Angélique Kidjo makes Hollywood history as first Black African on Walk of Fame

Beninese music sensation Angélique Kidjo has shattered barriers by becoming the first African artist and Black African performer to receive a star on the esteemed Hollywood Walk of Fame. The four-time Grammy Award-winning artist was honored with the 2,854th star on the iconic Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, symbolizing a significant milestone in her more than four-decade-long career.

Dressed in a vibrant red boubou, a style now synonymous with her image, Kidjo's emotional reaction upon unveiling her star was palpable. Kneeling in appreciation and shedding tears, she took the moment to appreciate the profound significance of her achievement. Following the ceremony, she received her official citation and posed for photographs, proudly celebrating her well-deserved honor.
