8th CPC: Salary estimates for Level 5-8 employees

The 8th Pay Commission (8th CPC) is scheduled to hold discussions with employee and pensioner groups, as well as other stakeholders in Jaipur from August 31 to September 1, 2026. Subsequent meetings are set to take place in Chennai and Puducherry in the second week of September. The deadline for the 8th Pay Commission to submit its report is fast approaching, set for May 2027 (18 months from November 2025).

Central government employees are eagerly waiting for a higher fitment factor that could significantly increase their basic salaries under the 8th Pay Commission. Under the 7th Pay Commission, a fitment factor of 2.57 was implemented, multiplying employees' existing salaries by 2.57 times. The 8th Pay Commission, however, may adopt a fitment factor ranging between 2.0-2.50.
