A 60-year-old woman was caught trying to make 200 million won in insurance fraud by staging a car accident with her son. The woman was arrested on the 29th for allegedly planning and executing the fraud with her 30-year-old son. According to the police, the woman and her son staged a car accident on the evening of the 18th of last month on a road in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The son was driving and deliberately crashed into a car that was changing lanes. The woman then called 119 and reported the accident, and an ambulance took her to the hospital. The woman claimed that she had suffered a spinal fracture in the accident and was hospitalized for about two weeks. During the investigation, the woman admitted to the charges, saying that she had done it for financial gain. The police are investigating whether there are any other accomplices involved. The woman and her son are facing charges of insurance fraud under the Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.
