As the new school year begins, students are presented with opportunities to enhance their learning through innovative AI tools integrated into Google Search. These new functionalities are designed to make studying more interactive and effective, catering to a variety of subjects and exam preparations.

One of the standout features is the ability to generate custom tools and simulations. For instance, if you're exploring pH levels, a simple search like "ph scale" can yield an interactive visual in an AI Overview. You can then refine your search for more specialized information, such as plotting citrus fruits on the pH scale, which AI Mode will tailor specifically to your query.

Additionally, students can now access customized practice quizzes through Search for various subjects and standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. These quizzes, powered by partnerships with reputable education companies, provide explanations and links for further study, ensuring that the content aligns with exam requirements. This feature is currently freely accessible globally in English across both AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Another valuable tool is Lens in Search, which offers an interactive learning experience by breaking down complex concepts and verifying your understanding. By snapping a photo of your work using the Lens camera icon in the Google app, you receive an AI Overview with explanations, error pinpointing, and coaching when you encounter difficulties. The conversation can continue in AI Mode, allowing for further exploration of relevant web content.

Gemini Notebook, a popular tool for note-taking, is now being integrated into AI Mode, enabling users to organize their study materials efficiently. You can create separate notebooks for each class or project, incorporating various sources such as class slides, syllabi, and web articles. Moreover, you can compile your previous AI Mode threads on related topics within a single notebook, which will sync across Google products.

Notebooks in AI Mode will be available globally in English shortly, with additional language support in the coming weeks.

Lastly, the feature allowing users to create custom study documents from uploaded files or AI Mode threads is now available globally in English. This new capability enables students to ask Search to generate a one-pager summarizing key concepts from their handwritten notes or lecture slides, streamlining the study process and eliminating the need for manual compilation.
