2027: Sowore blasts DSS for ‘belittling’ him at peace accord signing event

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 elections, has criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for demeaning him during a recent Peace Accord signing event. The human rights activist expressed his frustration on his verified X account, stating that it is common for Nigeria's security agencies to belittle individuals when they are not accompanied by a fleet of expensive cars and heavily armed escorts.

Sowore recounted an incident where he was prevented from entering the event by DSS operatives, who demanded to see his invitation letter. Despite him being a presidential candidate, the official admitted to knowing of his candidacy. Meanwhile, a presidential candidate who arrived with a large convoy was allowed entry without any hindrance. Sowore further alleged that he was denied access with his staff and camera crew, claiming that his treatment was discriminatory.

He firmly refused to accept such behavior and emphasized that every presidential candidate must be treated with equal dignity and respect, irrespective of the size of their convoy, the number of security personnel surrounding them, or their perceived privilege. Sowore vowed not to tolerate discriminatory conduct and stood his ground during the event.
