Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as a fantastic man. However, in an interview on TVC’s Politics Tonight, Fayose expressed that there was no hope for Obi in the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the consequences of the opposition splitting, stating it as the start of their problems.
Fayose noted that Obi left the NDC for Atiku Abubakar in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which led to both losing. The former governor highlighted that people were well aware of Obi's strategies and tactics from 2023, and they were prepared for him in the upcoming elections. Fayose further criticized the opposition for not uniting, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), making the PDP an opposition party.
He concluded by noting that Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu united to achieve success, whereas the opposition failed to do so, thus losing the election again.
