Woman found dead in Montreal apartment, injured man considered suspect: police

Montreal police reported the 16th homicide in the city after discovering a woman dead in an apartment located in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough. Responding to a 911 call on Monday at around 2:25 p.m., officers found a man and a woman with severe injuries at an apartment building on 39th Street near Paul-Corbeil Street.

The woman, aged 41, was pronounced dead at the scene with indications of violence on her upper body, possibly inflicted by a sharp object. The 35-year-old male, in critical condition, also had injuries consistent with being caused by a sharp object to his upper body. Police now consider the man a suspect in the investigation.

The relationship between the deceased woman and the injured man has not been confirmed by authorities. SPVM's investigation into the homicide remains ongoing and is being treated as a suspected femicide, marking the city's 15th homicide. The suspect is currently hospitalized and no court appearance has been scheduled yet due to the man's condition.

This tragic incident follows another homicide just a day prior, where a 44-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment in the same borough after a 911 call was received. The man found with the woman in that case was also in critical condition, with injuries that may have been caused by a sharp object, and was also identified as a suspect.
