Widening of road linking Uttarahalli-Mysuru Road to be completed soon: Krishna Byre Gowda

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed the Legislative Assembly that the government aimed to swiftly finalize the long-standing project of widening Uttarahalli Main Road, which connects to Mysuru Road. During Question Hour, Gowda addressed MLA for Yeshwantpur S.T. Somashekhar regarding the delay in completing the road-widening work, despite the work order being issued in 2021.

He pointed out that the project's progress has been hampered by the previous Transferable Development Rights (TDR) scheme's lack of appeal among property owners of the 133 properties intended for acquisition. However, with the introduction of the new TDR scheme, property owners have shown renewed interest, with 30 owners already consenting to the acquisition of their properties, and the remaining owners expressing willingness to participate in the new scheme.

Land acquisition, valued at 30,000 square feet, has already been completed near Krishnapriya Kalyanamantapa using TDR certificates. Gowda also highlighted the challenge posed by the development of a segment of road located within the Karnataka State Reserve Forest region. A joint survey with the Forest Department has been completed, and the proposed land will soon be appropriated by B-SMILE (Bengaluru Smart Mobility Limited) to expedite the completion of the project.
