Davido's debut single, "Back When," was inspired by his own personal hardships, and he explained that he struggled financially after rebelling against his father, a billionaire businessman named Deji Adeleke, who wanted him to focus on education instead of music.

Leaving home in pursuit of his dreams left Davido without the financial security his family background typically offered. He recalled, "There was a time I was broke. I had rich friends with rich parents who lived in mansions in Ikoyi with police escorts. But I had no money." This revelation sheds light on the early challenges that contributed to his meteoric rise in the industry, despite his privileged background.

Davido has since become one of Africa's most successful Afrobeats artists, having built a career spanning over a decade and earning numerous international accolades and collaborations.
