Vegetable donors play a vital role in Anna Prasadam service, says TTD Additional EO

Venkaiah Chowdary says around 13 to 14 tonnes of rice and more than eight tonnes of vegetables is being consumed daily to sustain the vast feeding programme

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary highlighted the crucial role of vegetable donors in the temple town's extensive Anna Prasadam program on August 18, 2026. Speaking at a coordination meeting in Padmavathi Guest House, he stated that TTD serves approximately four lakh devotees daily, consuming around 13 to 14 tonnes of rice and over eight tonnes of vegetables.

Vegetable donors from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka have been supplying vegetables for the past 25-30 years, with 30 donors now providing 33 varieties. TTD has implemented careful planning and coordination to minimize rejection and waste, ensuring quality, proper packaging, and transportation. Due to the perishable nature of vegetables, TTD utilizes cold-storage facilities and prioritizes timely consumption.

Vegetable consumption has surged from 5.34 tonnes daily three years ago to 8.44 tonnes currently, indicating the expanded Anna Prasadam services. To streamline supplies and better communicate requirements, TTD plans to develop a dedicated vegetable-donation policy and an online, real-time coordination system. On weekends, nearly 4.5 lakh portions are served, with kitchens operating for about 19 hours daily.

Mr. Chowdary credited the continued service to the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and encouraged departments, donors, and service organizations to collaborate as a unified team ahead of the upcoming Brahmotsavams. The donors were later honored with Laddu Prasadam and granted darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
