Lucknow, August 18: In an effort to bolster industrial and commercial activities in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Government has implemented stringent measures to expedite the electricity connection process and enhance service quality. Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), Dr Ashish Kumar Goyal, addressed officials during a power sector review meeting, emphasizing the government's commitment to promoting industrial growth.
Applications for electricity connections through platforms like the Nivesh Mitra Portal should be processed as swiftly as possible, stressed Goyal, reiterating that delays are unacceptable and strict action will be taken if complaints arise.
Reviewing the operations of power utilities, Goyal directed officials to diligently monitor complaints of delays or reluctance in providing electricity connections. These officials will face consequences, including vigilance inquiries, for any shortcomings. Goyal also underscored the need for a swift resolution of pending cases on the Jhatpat and Nivesh Mitra portals, urging officials to monitor application statuses and promptly contact applicants to address outstanding issues.
During the meeting, Goyal analyzed power supply conditions across urban, tehsil, and rural areas, scrutinized feeder meter data, and evaluated distribution performance parameters. He tasked officials with regular analysis of feeder-level data and immediate corrective actions where deficiencies were identified. Goyal also reviewed the progress of special camps focused on electricity bill corrections, instructing officials to prioritize on-site resolution of consumers' billing disputes, minimizing the need for unnecessary office visits.
The Chairman assessed the status of centralised material tenders in distribution corporations, damaged distribution transformers, and disciplinary actions taken against personnel responsible for such cases. He emphasized the installation of fuse sets on distribution transformers below 100 kVA, directing officials to expedite this process and ensure regular follow-ups.
Goyal stressed that targets related to revenue enhancement, reduced line losses, improved billing, effective smart meter monitoring, and enhanced consumer services would only be met with accountability at every level. He instructed officials to diligently monitor targets, adopt a results-oriented approach, and deliver improved, transparent, and uninterrupted power services to consumers.
Senior UPPCL officials, including Managing Director Nitish Kumar, attended the review meeting held at Shakti Bhawan.
