Trabzonspor tell Saudis to pay €30m for Onuachu

Trabzonspor has informed Al Ahli that the Saudi club must pay €30 million to sign Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, as the player faces a crucial period regarding his future at the Turkish club, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. Despite returning to Trabzonspor last season, Onuachu's future has remained uncertain, with the Saudi Pro League side showing the strongest interest in the 32-year-old and expected to meet with the Turkish club this week to discuss a potential deal.

The Nigerian has expressed openness to leaving Trabzonspor, though any transfer will depend on Trabzonspor meeting their demands. Onuachu rejoined the club after a loan spell from Southampton and made the move permanent, scoring 26 goals across all competitions, 22 of which came in the league, earning him the joint top scorer position in the Turkish Super Lig alongside Eldor Shomurodov of Istanbul Basaksehir.

He also played a key role in Trabzonspor's Turkish Cup triumph, scoring twice in the final as the club defeated Konyaspor 2-1. Trabzonspor had previously rejected two offers for Onuachu and remained committed to retaining their Golden Boot winner. However, their stance softened as they approached a possible move for former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez from Al Hilal.

If that transfer occurs, it could open the way for Onuachu's departure. Trabzonspor's rivals Fenerbahce had previously shown interest but have since dropped their pursuit in favor of signing Romelu Lukaku from Napoli. Al Hilal may also target Onuachu, having already been rebuffed in a €130 million bid for Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen.

For now, Onuachu remains a Trabzonspor player, but a decision on his future could be announced in the coming days as Al Ahli pursue his signature.
