Syria accuses Israel of airstrikes on Abu Al-Duhur military airport in Idlib

Syria has cited Israel for conducting eight airstrikes on the dormant Abu Al-Duhur military airport located in northwest Idlib, according to state-run media. On Monday, a Syrian military source informed state media that Israeli warplanes launched eight airstrikes at dawn today on the runway of the Abu Al-Duhur military airport in eastern Idlib.

The source reported that the assault inflicted material damage on the airport's infrastructure, but no casualties were documented. The airport, which has been inactive since 2012, is safeguarded by protection forces from Syria's Ministry of Defense. Israeli forces have a history of striking the airport, targeting what they deem military objectives in Syria following the fall of the previous regime, a claim that was reported to have transpired at the end of 2024, though the exact timing remains ambiguous in official accounts.

The previous regime reasserted control over the facility in late 2018, following its loss in September 2015 when opposition groups secured a majority of Idlib province.
