Sri Lanka batter to make rare Test debut as concussion sub against India in Galle

Sri Lanka cricket player Pasindu Sooriyabandara is set to make his Test debut as a concussion substitute during the fourth day of the India vs Sri Lanka Test match in Galle. Sooriyabandara, aged 26, was brought in to replace senior batsman Dinesh Chandimal, who suffered an injury during the fielding session. The injury occurred while Chandimal attempted to stop KL Rahul's shot, leading to a rough fall which resulted in a twist of his neck and shoulder.

Following assessments by the team's physiotherapist and doctor, Chandimal was taken to the hospital for a precautionary scan. This marks only the third occasion in Test history where a player has been substituted due to a concussion. Sooriyabandara, who has scored nearly 5000 runs in First-Class cricket with 14 centuries and 26 fifties, will come into the team during Sri Lanka's chase of 372 runs after India's innings.

India managed to dismiss Sri Lanka for 282 runs in their first innings, but they managed to add 462 more runs in their second innings, owing to Devdutt Padikkal's outstanding knock of 167 runs.
