Squirrel Flower, the Chicago indie darling, has unveiled a new song titled "Cleveland." The track is part of her upcoming album "Say A Prayer To The Gods Of Getting Going," set to release on August 21 via Polyvinyl. The song explores themes of choosing the city over a romantic interest, domestic life, and the allure of the Lake Erie region. Originally composed with her family band, uncommon rat, Ella Williams sought permission from her siblings to include it on her album, which they both granted.
The video concept for "Cleveland" was inspired by Williams' mom, who envisioned her hitchhiking to Cleveland, transitioning to a dreamy American domestic fantasy reminiscent of Desperately Seeking Susan. Directed by Jackson James, the video promises to complement the song's introspective and nostalgic mood. Fans can catch "Say A Prayer To The Gods Of Getting Going" on August 21, accompanied by a week's worth of music news and memes.
