Sowore lambasts NDLEA for destroying cannabis farms in Edo

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for destroying cannabis farms in Edo State. Sowore, via his verified X account, called for the legalization and regulation of cannabis in Nigeria. He expressed outrage over the agency's actions, stating that the government should stop destroying economically viable crops and instead legalize and regulate cannabis to tap into its medicinal and industrial potential.

"It is idiotic that NDLEA put on uniforms, march into farms, and set economically viable crops worth millions of dollars ablaze while your country is drowning in multidimensional poverty," Sowore tweeted. He emphasized the potential economic benefits of a regulated cannabis industry, including research, job creation, and revenue generation.

"Legalise and properly regulate cannabis. Invest in research, harness its legitimate medicinal and industrial potential, create jobs, generate revenue, and build an industry Nigerians can benefit from," Sowore added.
