Solar panel complainer now 'supporter of plan'

Len Shephard, the proponent of a proposed solar panel site in Guernsey, has converted from a critic to a supporter of the plan after discussing the details with the applicant, Chris Chadwick. The application, which involves installing 72 solar panels on a site behind Shephard's house in St Sampson, could potentially power five Guernsey households and save 505 trees annually.

Initially, Chadwick opposed the plan, citing that it was defined as a greenfield area. However, after meeting Shephard and thoroughly reviewing the application, Chadwick became a supporter. Shephard explained that the panels would be fully demountable, and the site had been unused for 45 years due to buried greenhouse materials.

Chadwick initially complained about the lack of detailed information available online, but after learning more, he acknowledged Shephard's thorough consideration of various aspects of the project. Chadwick highlighted that Shephard had taken into account concerns such as ensuring grass and wildlife had access to sunlight. The application is currently under consideration by the planning officials.
