Single-vehicle crash causes power outage in Brampton

A single-vehicle crash struck near Brampton, Ontario, around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, leading to the collapse of multiple hydro poles and the subsequent loss of power to thousands of households and businesses. Peel police responded to the incident on Rosedale Avenue, just off Main Street North, where they discovered the downed infrastructure. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody on suspicion of impaired operation.

At the height of the outage, Alectra Utilities reported that over 4,300 homes and businesses were without electricity. However, as of the latest update, more than 1,100 customers remain in the dark, with service restoration expected between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
