Second Southern Georgian Bay OPP officer charged with sexual assault this week

Two Ontario Provincial Police officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment have been charged with sexual assault this week, according to the province's police watchdog. Sgt. Blake Hamilton and Const. Zahid Javed were arrested and charged on separate days. Hamilton was charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of breach of trust, while Javed was charged with three counts of each offense.

Both officers were released on several conditions, which included not communicating with the complainant. The allegations reportedly emerged during the SIU's investigation, following an initial allegation against Hamilton in February.
