Samsung Android 17 Cutoff: These Galaxy Phones May Miss the Upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S22 and several other older Galaxy phones may miss out on Android 17 and the accompanying One UI 9 upgrade. This limited upgrade availability is due to these devices reaching the end of Samsung's major Android upgrade commitments for their respective generations. The Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 family are anticipated to be excluded from Android 17.

This situation highlights the significant shift in Samsung's approach to phone longevity over recent generations. While Samsung previously promised four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades for certain models, this support policy has changed across newer generations. While some Galaxy devices may not receive Android 17, the software support for newer flagship models remains intact.

The Galaxy S23 series is expected to receive Android 17 and One UI 9, ensuring a more extended software lifespan for these devices.
