Sagnarigu MP empowers 475 artisans

A total of 475 artisans in the Sagnarigu Municipality of Northern Ghana were presented with working tools by their Member of Parliament, Mr. Atta Issah, on Saturday to improve their livelihoods and boost their economic standing. The presented items included sewing machines, hairdryers, barbering kits, welding machines, and makeup accessories.

Mr. Issah made the announcement at a festive ceremony in Sagnarigu, stating that this action was a promise he kept during his 2024 election campaign tour. He highlighted that the initiative aimed to enhance the productivity of local artisans, support business expansion, and promote self-employment to reduce poverty within and beyond the constituency.

The MP emphasized that investing in artisans was a direct way of stimulating grassroots economic growth within the constituency. He further stated that it was his responsibility and duty to deliver development for his constituents, and he would continue to do his best to facilitate development in the area. The MP assured the beneficiaries that the distribution of equipment would significantly improve their services, increase their income, and deepen their confidence.

He urged them to train others in their respective trades to multiply the impact of the intervention across the municipality. The Municipal Chief Executive of Sagnarigu, Mr. Abdulai Imorow Gong, praised the MP for his commitment to initiating development-oriented initiatives that benefit the people of the constituency. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take good care of the machines for others to benefit from the programme.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Hamdia Alhassan Yakubu, expressed her gratitude to Mr. Issah for the timely support, stating that the tools would significantly ease her work, help her attract more customers, and change her life. The initiative, she said, would not only improve her business but also enhance her standard of living.
