RM23,000 cash prizes up for grabs in Malaysia Day competitions

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — A total of RM23,000 in cash prizes forms part of the main attractions for a series of competitions held to boost patriotism among Malaysians during the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebrations. Communications Ministry Strategic and Corporate Communications Division assistant secretary Muhammad Khairul Nazmi Jamsari revealed that the initiative consists of two main categories: the Lensa Malaysia Photojournalism Competition and the AiMAGINASI Malaysia Competition.

Both competitions, which commenced on Aug 10 and will conclude on Sept 20, provide a platform for the public to showcase their love for the country through creative means. The Lensa Malaysia Photojournalism Competition 2026 offers a total of RM15,000 in cash prizes and is open to Malaysians aged 15 and above who have an interest in photography.

Meanwhile, the AiMAGINASI Malaysia Competition is exclusively available to young talents from higher education institutions to create innovative works based on AI technology. In addition to the competitions, various community-based programs have been organized, including the '1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang' initiative, which aims to encourage a national wave of flag-flying.

This initiative, implemented through all State Information Departments and 1,632 Madani Communities across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, involves distributing Jalur Gemilang kits to the public. The 2026 National Day celebrations will be held in Putrajaya, while Malaysia Day festivities will be celebrated in Sarawak.
