Punjab Responds to Viral Notification About Basant 2027

The Punjab Home Department has refuted a viral notification claiming the celebration of Basant 2027 across the province. The department clarified that the notification circulating on social media is fake and fabricated. They urged the public to disregard unverified information and rely on official sources for details about Basant 2027.

The false notification, dated August 15, 2026, suggested the festival would occur under new safety rules, with a celebration date in late January 2027. It proposed measures such as approved kite string, a ban on dangerous materials, designated flying locations, and security arrangements by local authorities. The document also stipulated a compliance deadline of December 30, 2026.

The Home Department strongly advised citizens not to believe such unverified notifications and directed them to obtain accurate information through their official social media accounts.
