Nothing like ma’s cooking

House of Ma Kitchen and Bar, a new Asian fusion eatery in Winnipeg's Exchange District, offers a menu inspired by the home cooking of the restaurant's executive chef, Dom Merano. Cynthia Merano, Dom's mother, contributed recipes for lumpia and kare-kare, Filipino dishes featuring spring rolls and braised beef. The restaurant, designed to feel like an upscale tropical resort, features wicker decor, pendant lights, and a digital aquarium.

Highwater Bar and Eatery, adjacent to House of Ma, offers a more traditional, speakeasy-inspired atmosphere with a focus on elevated North American classics. Both restaurants are part of True Hospitality, a restaurant group founded by Darin Amies that now operates four properties in downtown Winnipeg.
