Nollywood actors rally support for Ogogo as he battles severe cancer

Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, has received an outpouring of support from fellow Nollywood actors following the emotional plea by his daughters for medical assistance due to his stage four cancer diagnosis. Actor Femi Adebayo spearheaded the appeal, urging Nigerians and medical professionals to aid his family in locating specialists and treatment facilities that can evaluate his condition.

Adebayo emphasized on his social media platform, X, that the family is not seeking financial aid, but rather urgent medical guidance. "Please rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan who is currently battling cancer," Adebayo wrote, encouraging anyone with connections in oncology or alternative medical resources to reach out to his family immediately.

Actress Toyin Abraham also lent her support via a video shared on her Instagram account, featuring Ogogo's daughters and a call for assistance. She encouraged those who could help to contact the family directly via their social media handles. Shaki Taiwo, Ogogo's daughter, had previously posted an Instagram video on Monday night, pleading for medical help for her father.

The video revealed that the hospital had discontinued his treatment due to the severity of his condition. Ogogo, a 66-year-old figure in the Nigerian film industry with a career spanning over four decades, is one of the most recognizable veterans of Yoruba cinema, having appeared in numerous films.
