Namibia, Ghana eye strategic bilateral cooperation in Volta Region

Namibian High Commissioner Ndiyakupi Nghituwamata has journeyed to Ghana's Volta Region to explore strategic avenues for bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation. The visit aims to identify high-growth sectors such as agriculture and tourism, fostering mutual economic development. Mrs Nghituwamata stressed the need to transcend traditional diplomatic courtesy and focus on understanding regional economic strengths.

Namibia seeks to transform its longstanding political ties with Ghana into robust economic partnerships, reaping measurable benefits for both nations and their people. The High Commissioner singled out the Volta Region as a prime investment location due to its unique advantages, including vast agricultural potential, a burgeoning tourism industry, extensive coastal and fisheries resources, and a vibrant entrepreneurial culture.

She highlighted that Namibia and Ghana share a deep historical bond, forged during Namibia's liberation struggle, providing a stable foundation for a modern, prosperous economic future. Volta Regional Minister James Gunu expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that exploring the region's vast potential across various sectors could benefit both economies.

He emphasized that decades-old political and diplomatic foundations should be leveraged to forge deeper partnerships across economic, cultural, educational, and commercial sectors.
