Najee Harris signing: Giants add four-time 1,000-yard rusher

The New York Giants have signed four-time 1,000-yard rusher Najee Harris, aiming to strengthen their running back lineup. The move, first reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, was confirmed by a Giants source. Harris, a 2021 first-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, had accumulated over 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons with the team. He was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 but suffered an Achilles tendon tear, playing only three games.

At 28 years old, Harris worked out for the Giants on Monday. Giants coach John Harbaugh, who had previously played against Harris while coaching the Baltimore Ravens, expressed optimism about Harris' workout, stating that while he is not back 100%, he has significant experience as a decorated veteran. The Giants waived/injured running back Dante Miller, necessitating another addition to their roster.

Although Harris is not a standout playmaker, averaging 3.9 yards per carry, he is a physical runner who thrives in a power running game. Harbaugh believes Harris could potentially become the primary second back, sharing time with Tyrone Tracy.
