Mumbai: Western Railway TTE Injured During Ticket Check At Andheri Station

Mumbai, August 18, 2026 - A Western Railway ticket-checking official, Prakash Dubey, suffered an injury during a ticket-checking operation at Andheri station on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred as Dubey, who was checking tickets on a Virar-Dadar local train, discovered a passenger traveling without a ticket. According to Dubey, he asked the passenger to pay a penalty for the infraction. When the train arrived at Andheri station, Dubey instructed the passenger to disembark.

The passenger, however, allegedly resisted and pushed Dubey while attempting to flee the platform, causing the ticket examiner to fall and sustain an injury above his left eye. Despite his injury, Dubey managed to hold onto the passenger, with the assistance of senior staffer Ganesh Rokade, who transported him to the TTE office. Dubey subsequently informed the Master Office and was transported to an Andheri dispensary for medical examination before being referred to a hospital for further evaluation by the GRP.

CCTV footage of the incident is currently under examination, but Senior Police Inspector Sachin Gavte stated that there is no confirmed evidence of an assault on Dubey. He expressed uncertainty regarding the cause of the injury and emphasized that further investigation, including the review of CCTV footage, would determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
