Moscow warns the UK of "consequences" over British drones used against its territory

Russia's embassy in London has accused the British government of deliberately escalating the conflict in Ukraine after it was revealed that British-made drones were used in strikes on targets within Russian territory. The statement from the embassy called the UK's actions an "accomplice and co-perpetrator of the bloody crimes and terrorist attacks," warning that Britain's involvement in the conflict would have consequences.

The British Ministry of Defence responded, stating that they stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Ukraine and committed to supporting Kyiv against Russian aggression. The controversy began with a report in The Sunday Times alleging that Ukrainian forces used British drones in their deep-strike campaign. However, neither the specific companies nor their involvement has been publicly confirmed.

Russian officials have warned of consequences for Britain's actions, echoing previous warnings, such as summoning the British ambassador in November 2022 over the attack on the Black Sea Fleet and threatening to strike British military installations in and around Ukraine. Despite the claims, the exact number of drones used, casualties, and damage caused remain unverified.
