Microsoft MVP Creates Site to Remind You of All the Brands Redmond Replaced

Microsoft MVP Loryan Strant has launched the Microsoft Rebrand Registry, a comprehensive database that tracks 72 Microsoft products and the 158 distinct names they have adopted throughout the years. According to Strant's research, Microsoft product names maintain their original names for an average duration of two years and eleven months.

The website goes a step further by predicting which products may receive a new moniker next, through an examination of the length of time the current name has been in use, previous names, and the frequency with which Microsoft alters the names of products within the same product family. According to The Register, this analytical approach led Strant to predict an increased probability of name changes for Azure App Service, Azure SQL Database, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service.

Strant's work extends beyond this project, as evidenced by his creation of Let Me Correct That For You, a site that documents the precise names of Microsoft products, and HumbledandHonored.com, which produces social media posts for MVPs to share when they receive or maintain Microsoft's honors. The Microsoft Rebrand Registry was conceived during informal discussions with other MVPs about Microsoft's frequent product name modifications. Inspired by this conversation, Strant decided to take action and create the Rebrand Registry.
