Makkah Pact: Tanzeem-e-Islami proposes inclusion of entire Muslim Ummah

Islamabad: Tanzeem-e-Islami Pakistan welcomed the Meesaq-e-Makkah (Makkah Pact) between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, but pushed for its expansion to encompass the entire Muslim Ummah, according to a seminar organized by the organization in Islamabad. The movement's leader, Shujauddin Sheikh, explained that the decline of the Muslim Ummah stems from its deviation from the Qur'an and disregard for Allah's and the Prophet's teachings.

He stressed that for the Ummah to regain its former greatness, it must embrace the Qur'an as its guide and constitution. Sheikh lamented that despite being geographically fragmented into 57 countries, none has emerged as a role model among them, as evidenced by the suffering of Muslims in Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, and Iran.

He called for unity among Muslim nations to confront these "Taghuti forces" and share resources across political, economic, military, trade and industrial sectors to restore the Ummah's strength and serve as a guiding light for humanity. Religious scholar Dr Zamir Akhtar echoed Sheikh's sentiments, asserting that increasing hatred, devaluation of human life, and a desperate search for peace necessitate Islam as humanity's salvation.

He endorsed the Meesaq-e-Makkah pact's expansion, highlighting Pakistan's potential to lead the Muslim Ummah due to its Islamic foundation, geographical significance, nuclear capabilities, and military prowess. Dr Ikram-ul-Haq, a prominent lawyer, researcher, and former Secretary-General of the Council of Islamic Ideology, noted that the Muslim Ummah holds resources, human capital, and divine blessings, but sees its assets under Western control and exploitation.

He lamented the utilization of Muslim professionals in Western institutions and stressed that until Muslims align their politics, economy, judiciary, culture, and societal system with Islamic principles, a righteous society and global peace will remain elusive. Professor Dr Habib-ur-RehmanAsim, a researcher and author, attributed the Ummah's decline to the distortion of religious understanding and deviation from the Prophet's exemplary life.

He emphasized that harmonizing all societal aspects with Islamic teachings is crucial for establishing a righteous world and realizing the dream of peace.
